The place was super easy to find and it’s only 2 blocks west of 5th Ave (the main street), so it’s very close without being too close to the noise. The beach is only one block east of 5th Ave (3 blocks away from the hotel.) There are plenty of food, shops, attractions and nightlife all around the hotel so it’s great for families and/or party people looking for wholesome or wild fun. There is a receptionist available 24/7 so that was a huge plus. The owner and staff were all extremely kind and knowledgeable. They also invite suggestions and appreciate any feedback given. My friend and I stayed in the mini rooms in the basement of the hotel, which was perfect for us. The price was extremely affordable and the same cost that it would have been in a shared room at a hostel with just as much personal space. For a low price, we got our own room with a set of bunkbeds and access to the shared bathrooms and showers, as well as the rooftop pool with a beautiful view. The rooms are just as advertised: mini. Thus, do not expect much storage space, but the beds have plenty of headroom and an average person up to 6’ tall can comfortably sit up on either bed. Each bed has its own reading light and the room’s “big” light is a bright LED strip that goes around the ceiling edge. There is a fan in the ceiling that pulls air out of the room, as it can get stuffy since it’s so small. If you get cold easily, but want fresh air cycling through the room, wear an extra layer because only a sheet is provided in most Central/South American countries since it’s usually warm. I also suggest earplugs if you’re a light sleeper because the walls are a bit thin. Shampoo and body wash are provided in the showers and there are hooks and a bench for your items, with a curtain to keep those things dry. The sink is a bit narrow, but is very aesthetically pleasing and just took some getting used to. Hand soap and paper towels are provided. I only have a few complaints. I found it a bit odd that the sinks are far away from the unisex toilets, but it did not do any harm to walk to them. Additionally, the water pressure in the showers could be better, and the shower heads could also be more reachable in order to adjust the setting and angle. As for the rooms, I would have appreciated hooks to hang things behind the door or on the wall, or even on the railing of the bunk bed. I also would have liked an outlet closer to the top bunk and a mini trash can in the room. Regardless of those small things, I really enjoyed my stay here and would love to stay here again. I highly recommend the Mini Rooms and love the concept. Even though they’re small, I did not feel claustrophobic and it is the perfect place for someone who spends most of their vacations outside their room. I really enjoyed my stay here and I would stay again so I hope to be back to do just that. 10/10 this place is highly recommended.

We had a lovely, comfortable, clean stay at this hostel.. the beds were nice and comfortable. Every bathroom/shower was always clean and they had good air conditioning in every room. The rooms are not very big but this was a very fair sacrifice considering the price is a lot lower here than nearly everywhere else in town. Nice rooftop pool which is good to watch a sunrise and the owner Nicholas was extremely helpful, informative and kind throughout our stay. I would highly recommend staying here.

My stay in the mini rooms by Illusion was absolutely perfect!! The rooms are clean, comfy and exactly what you need. The shared bathrooms are spacious, clean and have nice showers. The location is very nice and right in the center. What made my stay so perfect was the lovely host Nicholas. He showed me around, made me feel right at home and gave me tips for places with the best tacos. He did an amazing job setting up these mini rooms. I would definitely recommend staying here!
